Getting involved and making a difference...Raising funds and assisting in the packing of Emergency Response Kits (ERKs), providing immediate relief to our Pacific Island neighbours during natural disasters.
When a civil disaster hits, such as cyclones and floods in the Pacific Islands, families can lose everything. ERKs are provided to try and assist families in surviving the first days after the disaster, until large scale aid reaches them.

These boxes are produced in New Zealand and stored in New Zealand (and throughout the South Pacific Islands), and are available for immediate distribution. On receipt, a family will be able to construct a basic shelter, find food from the land and sea, cook and cloth themselves. The emptied plastic containers can hold 90 litres of water.

In an emergency, the most pressing need is for basic supplies to help a family survive the first few days; Rotary Remuera is here to assist in a practical way, by working with other New Zealand Rotarians and helping to supply distressed and displaced families with Emergency Response Kits (ERKs).
