Anthony Grant- The Sculpturium

Tony Fortune introduced Anthony and Sandra who are both Barristers.  Anthony specialises in Trusts and is a very prolific author.
Sandra is a civil litigation Barrister.  They share the same Law Chambers and in their spare time have created The Sculpturium at Matakana.

The Sculpturium has been up and running for nearly two years and is number two on Trip Advisor.  'Sculpturium' is a word introduced by Anthony.  It is the combination of the words 'sculpture' and museum'.

Anthony wanted to provide a venue which Aucklanders can be proud to bring visitors to.  It has cost millions of dollars to put together.  Starting a new venture has been very hard. Promoting the venue is made more difficult as Auckland Council won't allow the installation of street signs to advertise the Sculpturium.

There are six indoor art galleries all following a different theme.  Glass, figurative, recycled materials, animals and modern abstract work fill the first five galleries.  The final room houses a grand glass chandelier by the famous American artist, Dale Chihuly.

Outside, there are three sculpture gardens extending over 1.5km of paths containing sculptures, prehistoric rocks, live animals and reflective quotes.

New items are being continually added and Anthony and the revenue from being able to provide a venue for weddings and special celebrations is helping to fund further projects at the Sculpturium.

John Cowan thanked Anthony for his very informative and passionate presentation.
