Science Forum

We enjoyed listening to Sophie, Nav and Jacqui describing the experience they had attending the Rotary National Science and Technology Forum in January this year.  The Science Forum is a residential course where the students get a chance to look at many different areas of science including molecular biology, Computer aided design (CAD), Robotics/Electrical Engineering, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Science, Physics and Chemistry.
The girls attended 16 three hour long lectures which took place at University of Auckland, Massey and Auckland University of Technology.

The highlights for Jacqui included Chemistry and Biomedical science,  dissecting a sheep's heart and lungs and learning about various cardiovascular diseases.

For Nav, the highlights for her included, investigating various cardiovascular diseases and working in groups to teach each other about this.

Sophie's highlight was the Physics at Massey.

The girls thanked Rotary for supporting them to attend the Forum.  "It was such an amazing experience that has definitely impacted on us and our careers.  We know that many future students will benefit from it too".
