Greetings, I trust that many Members will have taken the opportunity to have a combined long Anzac weekend away. I am sure the decision not to hold a Meeting this week due to Anzac Day falling on Tuesday was the right one. I am sure attendance would have been low.
Anzac Day - 108 years since the landing on Gallipoli, may we remember them and all those who have fought and sacrificed their lives in the many conflicts since.
Guest Speaker, Professor Dr Felicity Goodyear-Smith. Last week Felicity gave a very concise history of Abortion Law in New Zealand since 1837 outlining the many changes which have taken place right up to the current Government. A very controversial subject and I am sure Members will have their own private opinions. Personally I felt Felicity's address was very balanced.
International Student Kevin Tavir - National Summer Science Forum. In partnership Pukekohe Rotary and Remuera Rotary interviewed 4 students from Wesley College for the Forum. Our traditional Schools Diocesan and Dilworth failed to put forward candidates. The interview panel selected two candidates, Kevin and a girl Faia'a Afamasaga. Kevin thanked the Club most sincerely for the sponsorship and the opportunity to attend. He was awarded the prize for the most outstanding student in his team of 42. Well done Kevin. Faia'a, domiciled in Pukekohe will address the Pukekohe Club.
District 9910 Conference. ROMAC "Kevin Tavir story" after three years in recess due to Covid ROMAC is again up and running. To promote the work of ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) Kevin and I have been invited to tell the "Kevin Tavir Story" at the 9910 Conference next Sunday. If any Members would like the opportunity to learn more about ROMAC and hear Kevin's story you are very welcome to turn up to the Tasman Room, Level 1, Alexander Park, at 11.30 on Sunday 30 April - the presentation will start at 11.40 and take approximately 45 minutes.

Club Accounts and Regular Payments. The Club's internal Members account system works very well but only if all Members contribute regular payments monthly which can vary from $50.00 per month to $150.00 depending on attendance. RI Fees, Membership dues and meal costs all come out of your Club account. In addition attendance at Changeover, the Christmas Party, Guests and other functions are charged to your Club account. It is therefore important to make sure your regular payments are keeping up. If your account is constantly in arrears this is not equitable or fair to the Membership as a whole and becomes a management issue - I respectfully ask all Members to review your regular payment please and accordingly adjust if necessary. Club Bank account details are shown at left.
Next Meeting Monday 1 May Speaker Bishop Ross Bay. Always popular, Ross has addressed us a few times in the past.
8 May, joint Meeting with Auckland East, Penrose and other cluster Clubs - partners and guests welcome. Guest Speaker will be Antonia Watson CEO ANZ. RSVP by noon Friday 5 May.
