Last Meeting - Monday 19th May, 2025

Keynote Speaker: Terrena Grifiths “The Chip Packet Project” “We are all volunteers. Together making something out of nothing, for those that have nothing” “There are 102,000 Kiwis (according to StatsNZ) living on the street, living in cars or garages right now in New Zealand that are IN NEED of a warm night’s sleep. Our thermal survival blankets have proved to make a difference and we need your help to get these blankets made and out the door”.

Terrena delivered an energetic and convincing session – including practical demonstrations – of just how effective their project could be. All they need is volunteer time & base line funding. The sergeant’s session funds raised were more than doubled with existing sunshine funds for a cash contribution to be made to the Project. It is hoped that a session can be arranged for Club members to visit their factory in Pilkington Rd Glen Innes for a Fusion Fun Day (3 hours).

Next Meeting: Monday 19th May, 2025 at the Bowling Club:

Keynote Speaker: RYLA Graduate who was a leader at inaugural Fiji RYPEN. Peter Ross, the District 9920 Leader responsible for all Youth Programmes has arranged for one or more RYLA Graduates to talk of their experience in May this year. RYPEN has been run for many years in NZ, but this is a first for a programme to be run for 30 Pacific Islanders RYPEN attendees by those who had experienced RYLA. This has given them an opportunity to “Pay back" and serve. Also attending and joining us for this meeting are the 10 RYLA 2025 candidates selected and approved by our club for sponsorship. They will be bringing their outdoor adventure gear for inspection after our meeting ends, to ensure it will withstand the demands of their week (21 – 27 June 2025).
