Paul Majurey, our Guest Speaker on Monday, gave a most interesting address outlining the work and responsibilities of Eke Panuku of which he is Chairman.

Very personable, Paul explained that his 200 strong team, on account of Auckland Council,  facilitates development of the inner City. Urban regeneration he called it and explained Eke Panuku manages around $2.4 billion of land and buildings that Auckland Council owns. Aim is "to create amazing places".

A lawyer by profession, Paul paid his respects to two of our members - the Hon. Mr Justice Peter Salmon, who he had appeared before in the Environment Court, and Professor Ken Palmer who had lectured him way back when at Law School.

Paul made time to answer a good number of questions including ones regarding the rather controversial removal of exotic trees from the maungas, particularly Owairaka (Mt Albert) and Mt Richmond.

At the conclusion Bipan Bansal, on behalf of the Club, thanked Paul for his address.
