To all Members and Friends of Remuera Rotary:
OUR SPEAKER - DAVID SEYMOUR On Monday we were privileged to have David Seymour, leader of the Act Party, speak to us. Privileged - most definitely, as he must be exceedingly busy being in the throes of crucial negotiations as to where he, and his other elected colleagues, fit into this coalition government. Negotiations, by all accounts, are being conducted point by point - a most tortuous process! But David still found the time to speak to us, and speak remarkably lucidly entirely without notes on many aspects of the current political situation.He then answered question after questionwithout hesitation but at no time divulging any hint of what issues were being negotiated between the 3 coalition parties.
On reflection it has been quite enlightening to listen to these political candidates - all have addressed us remarkably well. Pre-election Greg Fleming (National, Maungakiekie), Camilla Belich (Labour, Epsom) and Brooke van Velden (Act, Tamaki) all were very impressive. Now, post election, David Seymour who was successful in Epsom.! By the time you get to read this, the results of these negotiations are likely to be known and all speculation will be over. Hopefully, a proper government can be formed and we can all go forward and prosper!
AGM, 4 December 2023 Notice has been given of our AGM which will be held at the conclusion of our Dinner Meeting at the Carlton Cornwall Bowling Club.
CHRISTMAS PARTY, 11 December 2023 will be at the Parnell Cricket Club, Shore Road, Remuera.
