Farewell Presentation: Rev. Norman Brookes and Margaret are departing NZ to join family in Australia. Norman is a Past President and Remuera Rotarian of 43 years. Introduced to Remuera Rotary by Hugh Garlick whose outstanding contribution to the Club was also recognised along with Iain Valentine who has been a member of our Club for 40 years.
This was an opportunity to acknowledge the commitment to Remuera Rotary by these three Members who each received a PHF - (Paul Harris Fellow).

Hi Wayne,
Many thanks for the hospitality of the Club last night and the kind words you offered. Much appreciated. It was great that Hugh was honoured as well seeing that he was the one who invited me to join Rotary. I was completely taken by surprise by the Robert Harris fellowship pin - please pass on my deep appreciation to the Club for that.
I will greatly miss the fellowship and friendships of Club members. I hope the Club will keep up its role of service to the wider community, as it has done, for many years to come.
Margaret too has enjoyed her association with the Club and joins me in thanking you and the Club for both last night and many other occasions,

About the Garage Sale, it has been well advertised around Remuera. It brings a huge crowd - doors don't open till 8.00am but a queue will start to form well before 7.00 am. Very hectic especially in the first hour - security on the exit doors is essential - hence this call for reinforcements!

I must apologise for not mentioning on Monday that, last week, Jo had had a fall at home and had been hospitalised. Most fortunately no bones were broken, she is recovering and is now back home. We all wish Jo a very speedy recovery!
Tamaki Primary School - Duffy Books in Homes Role Model Assembly -Wednesday, 17th September at 1:30pm
This is the first Books in Homes Assembly for some time and they are always good value to attend. I will be attending next Wednesday and I hope that others will join me at Tamaki Primary. Each year we spend up to $6,000 on books for these students "caught being good" and the joy that these bring to them is very easy to see. For many of them this book will be the one and only book in their house. THese Duffy books are read, read and read again - they are treasured!
Next Speaker - Monday 15th September Nainh McMahon, Ireland's Consul-General
Nainh is a lawyer in addition to being Ireland's Consul-General. She has previously spoken to us, it was some years ago when we were at the Remuera Bowling Club. Nainh, I recall, is a highly entertaining speaker and her views on what is happening on the World Stage at present should be well worth hearing.
Tiffany Crosbie, Auckland Council on "Adopt a Drain"
Following Nainh, Tiffany will give a short presentation on how to carry out Desley Simpson's suggestion that each of us should "Adopt a Drain". Margaret Voyce, of the Orakei Local Board, will be here, a break from her electioneering, to give Tiffany and the project her support.
