AUCTION I have to report that the Meeting on Monday evening was an outstanding success. The finger food provided by the Good George was good, the camaraderie amongst the members of the Cluster clubs and their wives was great and thanks indeed to our members who were able to attend. Particularly pleasing to see our new recruit Annabel Lush there and also prospective member Deeanah Winders and her husband, Marcus.
And the Auction - Gary Langford was excellent as MC and the Auctioneer, District Governor Elect, Vidya Nand, did superbly in cajoling remarkably generous bids. The Live Auction of some dozen lots fetched $4,690 and, for the silent auction, there were excellent bids on the long list of bottles on offer. Word has come through that the target of $15,000 has been met - further details to come - but Starship Hospital is assured of receiving the very much needed Paediatric Shower Hoist. It will be hugely appreciated by those wonderful nurses at Starship!
Huge thanks is due to Auckland East Rotary, host club amongst the Cluster, and in particular to Graeme Emerson, who chaired this Project, and Alistair Burry, his Secretary. Graeme and Alistair carried the bulk of the work load - they prepared well and the evening ran without a hitch.
REMUERA RESIDENTS ASSN Our good member, Iain Valentine, has gallantly held the fort chairing RRA for a good many years. Sadly Iain has had little support in recent times and RRA may go into recess. Terry Moore of East Auckland Citizens Network will speak briefly to us on Monday following our Guest Speaker - I believe Terry is endeavouring to drum up support for RRA so it's good work can continue.
