Messages From Co-President Bryan Haggitt

Can Collection
First, a  huge thanks to all who contributed bringing canned and other food for the collection. I confirm that on Wednesday I delivered the box to the Citizens Advice Bureau at 100 Line Road, Glen Innes, where it was very gratefully received. Photos of the collection and of the CAB are below.

We started our Meeting on Monday with the acknowledgement that Kay Brookes has been awarded a PHF Pin and certificate for her continuous service as Club Secretary for the last four years and recognises the diligence and accuracy of her work, particularly in relation to weekly meeting attendance returns.  Always cheerful and determined at the same time and a great support to Club Presidents and the Board.

Committee Meetings
These went exceedingly well - a great deal of enthusiastic discussion and planning at both committee groups, International/Community and Vocational/Youth. This augers well for the coming year. More details to follow in the ensuing weeks.

RYLA
RYLA starts on Saturday 21st June and runs through the week till the 28th June. Many thanks to those providing transport on Saturday morning, 6.30am, to get our 10 candidates out to Willow Park. They also need to be collected around 10.30am on the 28th and I will be looking for assistance again then.

Programme
Some excellent Speakers are being lined up and a Programme will be issued very shortly.
Meantime enjoy this Matariki break!
Bryan
Co-President

Daffodil Project Update

On Friday, 30th May, a further Club Daffodil Planting Project was carried out in the lower Waiata Reserve, Remuera.  The project was supported by a grant from the Auckland Council Local Board.  A total of 500 bulbs were planted.  Fortunately, the weather of the day before improved, allowing the very successful project to proceed.  We are looking forward to having a celebration at this planting site when the daffodils are in full bloom.

The daffodil bulbs we planted at Mt. Hobson on 3rd May 2025 have already started to flower.
