I mention his background because, as Merv explained, whilst he is not a meteorologist, he is a very experienced researcher and was dismayed at the information overwhelming us claiming "a climate emergency and an existential crisis".
To counter these views, Merv produced graphs and charts going back to the beginning of time to prove that this planet has been through many cycles of warming and freezing and that at present we are just part way through a cold period, that it is not "man induced" and that it is a perfectly natural process.
Merv answered many question from the floor and emphasised that EVs, wind farms and other measures would in no way provide sufficient energy to make our reliance on oil and petroleum obsolete.
