The Presidents Message
President David welcomed members, our guests, Stephen Tordeich, District Secretary Peter Barron, AG Elise Marwick and our Speaker DG Ingrid.

Speaker
President David introduced DG Ingrid, giving a brief summary of Ingrid’s career and history with Rotary.
Ingrid was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Parnell in 1994, and has since held several positions including President in 2005-06. She has also been Assistant Governor and has held the positions of District Trainer and Rotary Leadership Institute Chair in District 9920 for the last four years.
Ingrid recently retired from a twenty plus year career in human resources and organisational development, where she developed her passion for developing leadership capability and working with individuals and teams to help them reach their potential.

DG Ingrid has been visiting the Rotary Clubs within her district and because every Club is different, she chose to have a Q & A session.  She was asked some probing and thought provoking questions, mainly about support from District for growing membership, promoting Rotary and our projects and giving to Foundation.

DG Ingrid congratulated our Club on the large number of wide ranging projects the club is working on and the modern image we have in the community with our up to date branding and signage.
She thanked Catherine Holden for instigating this during her time as PR Director.

DG Ingrid said there are many dedicated Rotarians who give their time and thanked Tony Fortune for his significant contribution to the District Constitution and Bruce Howe for all his work as District Treasurer. They both do a lot of work behind the scenes.

The Rotary International theme for 2018/19 is “Be the Inspiration”.
In an effort to increase membership and highlight Rotary’s inspiring work RI President Barry Rassin is urging clubs and districts to organise fun, informal community events called Rotary Days. District 9920 is exploring whether clubs do individual or cluster events and whether or not they have one large event in Auckland.

DG Ingrid had her own set of questions for the Club members starting with:
Is our Club aware of our USP; Unique Selling Point? The leadership and mentoring within our club, e.g. the opportunities to grow our leadership
On the subject of Humanitarian service, are we actively engaged?
RI has a unique partnership with UNICEF.
What can we do to engage people in other clubs in our projects?

Do we tell our success stories to the Public at large? Are we telling how our Projects have impact other people’s lives and save lives?
This is very important for our Image and helps greatly to attract new members as Rotary NZ lost 200 members last year.

What kind of experience do people have when they interact with our club?

Lastly DG Ingrid reminded the Club that the District Conference would be in Napier 10-12 May 2019 and registrations would open in October 2018.

Thank you to Peter Salmon for the superb job he did as MC.

The four way test
of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the truth?  2. Is it fair to all concerned?  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
