 President Leigh Marshall

I am very sorry I was not able to make the meeting last Monday – I was all prepared for it and then soon after midday the lurgy arrived courtesy of my grand-daughter who had been sick on Friday, and who we cared for on the weekend. Thanks to Past President Murray for stepping in at the last minute. Murray will also run the Club meetings on 20 and 27 June while I am away.

I was pleased to hear that Ross has recovered and attended last Monday, and I hoped you all enjoyed the talk by National MP Paul Goldsmith.

Local Auckland Council Councillor Desley Simpson is our guest speaker next Monday, so come along with your questions about your grass berms, or why the Council operating expenditure will be $4.876 B in the coming year.

Stay safe

President Leigh

Speaker:  Paul Goldsmith
National Party List Member for Epsom

Paul was first elected to Parliament on 26 November, 2011.

Paul is a member of the Select Committee for Justice and the Party Spokesperson for Justice and Workplace Relations and Safety.

Paul's presentation included:
his thoughts on the Budget which was released recently.

his emphasis that it is  the Party Vote which really matters under MMP.

this is not a great time to be an incumbent Government because of the rising cost of living and the war in Ukraine.

Rotary District 9920 Conference Invitation
24th - 25th June 2022
Te Papa, Wellington

On behalf of DG Steve & Edith, & the Rotary Club of Manukau Sunrise Inc, it is my pleasure to invite you to our inspiring D9920 Matariki Conference in Te Papa Wellington 24th – 25th June 2022.

Our website for our conference is now live,

We have an amazing lineup of keynote speakers, from various industries, who will be a mixture of in person & virtual.

Two full Conference days filled with the chance to re-connect with old friends, plus make new ones, as we come together in our capital city.

Our evening events will also be packed with much fun & laughter. Friday night will be our “Rotary’s Got Talent” evening, hosted by Rotary Club of Auckland South Inc, so start getting your club organized, as 2 lots of $1000 up for grabs for the most talented club. Even better still, as not performed at Te Papa, but done in your own backyard, all clubs in District 9920 Inc, can send in a video, & be in to win. Saturday evening will close our amazing conference in style, as hosting our “Shining Stars – Gala Dinner” A chance for all to dress up & dance the night away. As it is our first celebrated Matariki long weekend, come early to see the sights, or play in our District Golf Tournament, or stay longer to enjoy the Wairarapa countryside.

Flights are still very reasonable, but would recommend getting in early. As we are now in Covid traffic light Orange, this lifts our ability to have 350 people able to attend. Plus we have a virtual option, which is unlimited.

We are leaving you to sort your accommodation, but have a list of Hotels & Motels that are close to Te Papa on the Conference website. Be in quick to secure your spot, as you want to be in the first 200, just in case….. (you never know what our Govt will do…..) Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions re Conference as I have a great committee working on this to make it an amazing conference for all.
