Last Week's Meeting - 31st March at Maungakiekie Rotary Club
18 Members and 1 partner of the Club visited Maungakiekie Rotary of 19 members at Royal Oak Bowls, in Onehunga: The keynote speaker was MP Greg Fleming, who spoke well of the learning he has experienced in his first term as the Member of Parliament for Maungakiekie. He serves on the Māori Affairs Committee and is Deputy Chair of the Petitions Committee. Greg clearly has a grasp of what his role is, and where he can make a difference. He declared that he began 12 months ago as the 3rd former, and now assesses that he has just reached the lofty heights of a 1st Term 4th former. He was a good speaker and was very happy to respond to member’s questions
Next Meeting: Monday 31st March at the Bowling Club:
A nomination for leadership of the Club for the 2025 – 2026 year has been publicised by the Nominating Committee. This meeting will provide an opportunity for this new leadership team to describe their “Modus Operandi” for the year, and the intended structure, activities, and objectives.
It should be noted by members that there is currently a 14-day period since the above was publicised where alternative nominations for leadership are welcomed.
Also at the meeting: Kalle Muscheid – Rotary Youth Exchange Student from Germany will introduce himself – and his Counsellor John Hawke, President of Newmarket Rotary will attend – he also may talk about our joint venture at Dilworth School.

Outcomes from Board Meeting 4 March
1) Salvation Army street appeal: members ask for their time on Thurs 8th and Friday 9th May – members to contact RedShield directly
2) Members are asked to identify potential applicants for 2025 RYLA – week starts Sat 21st – ends Sat 28th June. Age 22 – 28yrs. Refer to Bryan Haggitt
3) For future meetings, we are going to work with a small group of local clubs to create an integrated meeting plan, so that each club has one major event each month and invites others to attend.
