Messages From Co-President Bryan Haggitt
Passing of Honorary Member, David Willmott
David passed away peacefully on Saturday, 27 September 2025. David was a member of our Rotary Club for many years and, more recently, an Honorary Member. Our very deepest sympathy and best wishes go to Karen.
A service to celebrate David's life will be held on Sunday, 19 October 2025, 2pm at Romaleigh Chapel, 31 Ocean View Road, Northcote, Auckland.
Meeting - Monday 29th September
David Seymour, Deputy Prime Minister
Almost 60 attended this Meeting to hear our DPM - many from other Rotary clubs, Auckland, Parnell and, particularly, Maungakiekie.
The DPM arrived, as arranged, on the dot of 6.30pm and, after the briefest of introductions, began by thanking the thinking majority of understanding the Foreign Minister's UN address of not bowing to mob rule by refusing to call for a Palestinian State. He went on to highlight the colossal savings that will be made by the rationalisation of the earthquake strengthening regulations. This change will save billions of dollars particularly in Auckland and North and be a huge relief to owners of heritage properties. Freeing us of unnecessary red tape is one of his tasks and relief cannot come soon enough.
Having enlightened us of other aspects of governmental life the DPM happily answered a great number of questions. David was very frank with his answers and it was a great privilege to have the Deputy Prime Minister take the time to address us.
Next Meeting: Monday 6th October
Speaker: Charmaine Vaughan
Charmaine will be talking to us about a proposed mountain bike trail.
Rylarians/Friends of Remuera Rotary - you are most welcome and to also, ask those questions that you have always wanted to ask.
Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday

Christmas Puddings
It’s that time of year again!
The Rotary Club of St Johns Ellerslie met on Saturday 20th September at Jenners Customs and Freight to undertake the annual packing of the very successful Rotary Xmas Puddings. This fund-raising project was undertaken for 25 years by the Ellerslie club and has continued under the new merged club. Over $2m has been raised for Rotary projects in New Zealand in that time. The Christmas Puddings are $25 each. If you would like to order, please contact Bryan Haggitt by email at bchcricket@gmail.com
This is not the Christmas pudding of old. Try one and you will notice a decided difference – something delicious for staff and colleagues who may not otherwise try one or a shared Christmas celebration perhaps.
