Monday's Quiz and Silent Auction The 2023/24 Rotary Year is almost over but on Monday we held a most successful event fundraising for Wheelchairs for Starship. Final figures are not yet in but with thanks to the support and generosity of you, other Rotarians and friends plus the Harold Thomas Trust, we have not only reached our target of $10,000 but most likely to be able to donate $12,000 to Starship. Enough to provide 3 new wheelchairs!
On the night we had 10 tables of 6 - the Quiz was won by Parnell Rotary's table who snatched the lead in the last round. It was wonderful to have DG Elect Vidya Nand with us along with Joyti Singh, DGE for 2026/27 plus the support from the other Cluster Clubs - Parnell as mentioned, Auckland East, Newmarket and Harbourside.
Starship's Pip Eriksson showed us a new paediatric wheelchair - thank you Pip! $4,000 each and very needed by Starship
And many, many thanks to those who provided items for the Silent Auction. Almost all the items sold, all the grog and particularly the major items - the Wanaka Townhouse and the Gold Coast Apartment - which went for $500 and $1,100 respectively. Thank you indeed bidders - you made the evening an outstanding success!
Very special thanks to Dave Finn, our Quizmaster, to Ingrid and Murray - our organising committee, Jo our scrutineer, Let's Eat for the excellent platter boxes and to my wife Jenny who prepared and printed the Quiz papers. And, again, thanks to all who contributed so generously on Monday evening!
Changeover Dinner - Monday, 1 July at Remuera Golf Club Iain, our incoming President, and I look forward to seeing you all, with your wives/partners, and Honorary Members, too. It will be a great way to welcome in the new, 2024/25 Rotary Year!
Best wishes to you all
