One of the oldest and largest of the Rotary Fellowships founded in the United Kingdom in the 1940's.There are now IYFR Fleets worldwide divided into three Districts.
 
The Auckland Fleet has two Past International Commodores and the current International Rear Commodore is an Auckland Fleet Member, Past Commodore David Hansen. The Auckland Fleet will be the first in the world to have had three International Commodores. The current International Commodore is from Argentina and the two previous to him were from the Philippines and Italy. To be a Member you do not have to own a boat just an interest in boating and all Rotarians are eligible to join. Some of the activities of the Auckland Fleet of IFYR have included....
Activities of the Auckland Fleet of IYFR have included a visit to the Naval Base and a tour of HMNZS Otago. Visits to Coastguard, Westpac Rescue Helicopter base and a tour of the Spirit of New Zealand youth training tall ship.
 
Other functions have included weekends away to Waiheke, Kawau and Pauanui; a small boat picnic to Motuihe, potluck lunches and a BBQ lunch is scheduled. A popular annual event is the Riverhead Pub lunch cruise on a Members 55 foot launch and Ken and Bente Winter are very generous offering the use of their super yacht MV Pacific Mermaid for special occasions.
 
The Christmas Party this year will be at the Squadron home of the Americas Cup and already strong interest from IYFR Members worldwide have been expressed to visit Auckland for the 2021 Americas Cup. The Auckland Fleet will also host appropriate events. There is also an IYFR Fleet in the Bay of Islands and a visit by the Auckland Fleet is planned for this coming summer, accommodation will be ashore and day sailing with BOI Members for those who wish to is planned.
 
Annual Subscription is $30.00 giving the same reciprocal membership benefits as Rotarians with other Fleets worldwide.
 
For the past three years grants and excess funds from the fleet have sponsored underprivileged youth on the Spirit of Adventure "Voyage of Discovery."  Thanks to a donation from a Member another young person is to be selected this year.
